Upcoming Rosemont Family Fun Night To Feature Rodeo-Style Fun


Rosemont’s recent spring break and Easter events for residents have allowed kids of all ages to have some fun before returning to school. There is still some fun left with the upcoming Rosemont Elementary Family Fun Night. Here’s a rundown of some recent village fun:

Easter Egg Hunts

On Thursday, March 29, Barry Recreation Center held a well-attended Easter Egg hunt for kids throughout the neighborhood. Eggs were scattered across the turf, with kids up to eighth grade encouraged to collect as many eggs as they could.

Rosemont School also hosted an Easter Egg hunt Saturday, March 24 for kids through fourth grade. Lange Park hosted a teen Easter Egg hunt Friday, March 23.

Barry Candy Contest Winner

Beginning Feb. 26, Rosemont residents were invited to stop by the desk of Barry Recreation Center and guess how many pieces of candy were in the Easter candy jar. Each person was allowed just one guess. This year’s Easter candy jar contest winner is 15-year-old Leonardo Zarate of Rosemont. He guessed the exact number of candies: 179. Second place ended up as a three-way tie with a guess of 175.

Rosemont Family Fun Night

On Friday, April 6, Rosemont Elementary School families are invited to have some Western-style fun at Family Fun Night at The Dome at Rosemont. The rodeo-themed fundraiser open to the entire elementary school community will welcome students in preschool through eighth grade. The event will have an admission fee, with additional costs for certain activities.

The Dunk Tank will run from 6 to 9 p.m. At 7:15 p.m., stick horse races will take place, with prizes for first, second and third place.Jumpy houses, face painting, music, mechanical bull rides, pony rides and raffles will also take place.

Raffle prizes include Disney Jr. tickets, Teresa Caputo tickets, restaurant gift cards, vendor prizes, Chicago Wolves tickets, overnight hotel stays and more.

The night also features Gold Package raffle tickets for $10, which offer the chance to win a Chicago Bandits party, iPod Touch, iPad Mini 4, Powerboard by Hoverboard, White Sox tickets and free day camp.

Forty area vendors, including Roll Out Bakery, Stoner Rock BBQ, Sweet N Dainty Cupcakery, Kimmie Rocha Photography, Pals 4 Paws, Pampered Chef and Flat Bottom Pretzels will be at the event. Purchasing goods from these vendors comes with the opportunity of winning even more prizes.

Refreshments will be available, including a second grade bake sale. Proceeds from the bake sale will help the second grade class reach their goal of adopting a primate.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fun lasts until 10 p.m. at The Dome, 34 Jennie Finch Way.
