Tennis Roundup: Prospect, Meadows, Stevenson Win Big


Prospect opened Mid Suburban League East girls tennis conference play with a 6-1 victory over Hersey, Thursday (Sept. 6).

As No. 1 singles, Hersey’s Natalie Osiecki defeated Prospect’s Nikki Zakrzewski, 6-0, 6-2. But it was Prospect sweeping the rest of the dual. At No. 1 doubles, the Knights duo of Ellery Whitebloom and Lexi Gravagna defeated Huskies Maria Kot and Taylor Hall.

Alex Giannopoulos and Kendall O’Malley of Prospect defeated Sara Stan and Rachel Silva at No. 4 doubles in the only match that went 3 sets.

In other area tennis action:

Rolling Meadows 7, Wheeling 0: Hanna Haber led Meadows at No. 1 singles in 6-0, 6-0 win over Marissa Krueger. Kylie Differding and Conor Abernethy took No. 1 doubles for the Mustangs.

Stevenson 7, Zion-Benton 0: It was a clean sweep for the Patriots who won every match, 6-0, 6-0. Alaina Kolli defeated Rachel Lindquist in No. 1 singles. Stevenson’s Alyssa Glaser and Ellen Ma led the doubles pairings.
