Rosemont Blotter: Women Stop To ‘Shop’ During Fashion Outlets Visit


The following reports are from the files of the Rosemont Public Safety Department. The Rosemont Journal publishes its “Police Blotter” every Wednesday.

DUI Charge

Grzegorz Filip, 40, a resident of the 500 block of Berkshire Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested about 10:20 p.m., Sept. 1 at River and Higgins roads. A patrol officer reported Filip was driving very slowly and changing lanes in the middle of intersections, including making a right turn in front of a car that was already at the turn lane. When he finally stopped, the officer reportedly had trouble getting him to produce IDs or do field sobriety tests. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence. His court date will be Oct. 17 at Rolling Meadows Court House.

Drug Charges

Ricky McCloskey, 25, a resident of the 1800 block of 225th Place, Sauk Village, was arrested Sept. 2, about 9 p.m., at 9301 Bryn Mawr Ave. During a police stop for improper lane usage, the patrol officer reportedly smelled burnt cannabis. Contents found in the car totaled 15 grams, police said. His court date will be Oct. 17 at Rolling Meadows,

Police responded to auxiliary police reports of activities in a car, parking in the overflow lot in the 9600 block of Higgins, on Sept. 10 about 11 p.m. William Larson, 25, a resident of the 5700 block of Landcaster Circle, McHenry, and Caitlyn Coukart, 20, a resident of the 8000 block of Maple Drive, Wonder Lake, were arrested. According to police reports, Coukart said they had stopped on their way north at the Rivers Casino to obtain drugs. Larson, the driver, was reported to be barely responsive. After searches of the car and Coukart and the driver, the following charges were filed. Coukart was charged with a Class 4 felony for possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of cannabis (local ordinance). Larson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reported finding used and unused hypodermic needles in the vehicle, along with used glass pipes and residual evidence of heroin. Their court dates will be Oct. 24 at Rolling Meadows. Her cannabis hearing will be Sept. 24 at Rosemont Village Hall. A third passenger, 19, was released without charges.

Driving Charges

David A. Brown, 45, a resident of the 15500 block of W. 133rd Street, Olathe, KS, was arrested Aug. 21 shortly before 11 p.m. in the 6500 block of Mannheim, on charges of driving on a suspended Missouri license. He was stopped for driving with a burned out headlight, police said. His court date will be Sept. 25 in Rolling Meadows.

Ricardo Mena, 21, a resident of the 4100 block of Andrews Circle, Mishwaukee, IN, was arrested Sept. 2 just before 1 p.m. at River and Higgins. He was stopped because his brake lights did not go on when the vehicle stopped, police said. Although he has lived here five years, he only had a Venezuelan driver’s license, not valid here, and expired car insurance, police said. His court date will be Oct. 7 at Rolling Meadows.

Karolina Herrera, 27, a resident of the 2300 block of Lockwood, Chicago, was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. Sept. 10. She was stopped because police said she was using an electronic communication device while driving. She was also charged for driving without ever applying for a driver’s license. No court date was available.

Theft Charges

Narae N. Byrd, 20, a resident of the 2000 block of 54th Street, Kenosha, WI, and Lillie C. Buckley, a resident of the 5600 block of S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, were arrested Sept. 1, at 5240 Fashion Outlet Way, on charges of retail theft. Mall security responded to a store alarm and alerted police. Despite conflicting stories from the two women, police said a timeline from various mall videos shows them entering at least four stores together or separately in the next hour before they were spotted in the parking garage. These included Oshkosh/Carters, Children’s Place, Forever 21, Tommy Hillfiger; plus merchandise for several other stores which were in their possession without paid receipts. Byrd was charged with one count of retail theft from Forever 21 and Buckley was charged with retail thefts from both Forever 21 and Tommy Hillfiger. Both are charged with possession of theft detection removal devices. Their court dates are Sept. 25 at Rolling Meadows.
