Rivers Remains Top Casino In State

Des Plaines’ Rivers Casino was the most profitable riverboat gambling location in the state last month, according to reports from the Illinois Gaming Board.

At 43,687 sq. ft., Rivers is also the largest, most recently-built casino in the state. Its doors opened at River Road and Devon Avenue in 2011.

Adjusted gross receipts for the casino in October reached approximately $36.12 million — over double that of the second top-earning Illinois casino, Harrah’s Joliet, at around $15.33 million.

Rivers logged 250,291 admissions in October, with approximately $144 generated by each admission. Close to $16.75 million went to pay state taxes.

Compared to last month, receipts show a .07 percent decrease in revenue at Rivers, far less than the average 2.47 percent statewide decrease. However, casino receipts at Rivers were up 4.89 percent and up 1.6 percent statewide compared to October 2016.
