Daniel Abrego, 22, died on Sept. 24. He was the son of Armando Abrego and Maria Josefina and a brother and uncle. River Woods Chapels, Des Plaines, handled arrangements.

Darlene Boeckenhauer

of Des Plaines

Darlene Boeckenhauer, 86, died on Sept. 23. She was the wife of the late Robert, mother of four and the late Steven, grandmother of two and the late Kevin, sister of the late Harvey Whetstone, late Ron Whetstone and the late Betty Grant. Evelyn Botti

of Mount Prospect

Evelyn Botti, 78, died on Sept. 22. She was known for her playfulness, cooking and kindness. She was the daughter of the late George Baker and Paralee Jackson Baker. Preceded in death by her husband, Maximino, her parents, three sisters, six brothers. She is survived by seven children, a brother, sister, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, Franklin Park, handled arrangements.

Wayne P. Brandt

of Des Plaines

Wayne P. Brandt, 72, died on Sept. 18. He was the husband of Monica for 49 years, father of three, grandfather of six, uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling, handled arrangements.

Rev. Jerry Bresnahan

served at St. Beatrice

Rev. Jerry Bresnahan, 86, died on Sept. 26. He was ordained May 3, 1960 and retired in 2005. Served as a military chaplain and at several parishes, including St. Joseph in Homewood, St. Andrew, St. Germaine, St. Joseph in Libertyville, St. Mary of the Woods, and St. Beatrice in Schiller Park. Retired from St. Beatrice Parish and made pastor emeritus in 2005. His family includes sister, Ann Maureen Seiler; brother, Edmond Bresnahan; three nephews, two nieces, along with their grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Andersen Morgan Funeral Home, Franklin Park.

Mary V. Culhane

of Mount Prospect

Mary V. Culhane, 89, formerly of Oak Park, died on Sept. 19. She spent almost her entire career working for Cardwell Westinghouse. In the evenings she attended Loyola University, obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1973. She started her career as an administrative assistant and worked her way up to secretary and assistant treasurer. She is survived by her nieces and nephews as well as her sister-in-law. Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral arrangements provided by Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.

John Thomas Fankhauser

formerly of Des Plaines

John Thomas Fankhauser, 99, died on Aug. 23. He was born in Milwaukee, but grew up in Des Plaines. After graduating from Maine Township High School in 1940, he enrolled at the University of Iowa. His college education was interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the Army at the Panama Canal. After the war, he completed his bachelor’s degree. Following in his father’s footsteps, he went into the insurance business. He married Dorothy Kirsch and they bought his childhood home in Des Plaines, where they lived until 1979. He worked as an account executive for Marsh & McLennan. He received his MBA from Northwestern University. Shortly after moving to Oakwood Hills, he took early retirement. He then practiced law and served insurance clients from his office until he retired at 90. He was a founding member and elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Plaines. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, three brothers, two sisters, great-niece and grandson. He is survived by his son and daughter, granddaughter, and three grandsons.

Marie Virginia Gasey

of Arlington Heights

Marie Virginia Gasey, 93, died on Sept. 22. Earlier in her life, she was a newspaper and magazine journalist. She was a member of Dunton Questers and an active member of St. James Catholic Church where she participated in the guild, choir, and many small faith groups. She was also an avid world traveler and member of an Arlington Heights women’s golf league. She is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren, a great grandchild, sister, and nieces and many nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, parents and brothers. Henry A. Goebbert

of Des Plaines

Henry A. Goebbert, 83, died on May 11, 2020. His funeral service was held in early October 2021. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong resident of Des Plaines, the son of Theodore H. and Rose Goebbert, husband of Corrine L. for 57 years, father of two and brother. Janet Hedrick

of Palatine

Janet Hedrick, 64, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, but met her physical challenge to continue living on her terms. She would become a CPA and did tax returns during tax season. She could no longer travel but was mostly working from home. Cancer could not defeat her, unfortunately, COVID did. She is survived by her mother Joan Clare Hedrick, siblings, nieces and her aunt. Preceded in death by father, Joseph. Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights, handled arrangements.

Robert G. Hinson

of Arlington Heights

Robert Gene Hinson, 68, died on Sept. 28. Hinson worked in the commercial lending industry. He had a passion for playing tennis, golf, basketball and fishing. He was a member of the TKE fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University and graduated from Roosevelt University. He is survived by his sons, James Michael Hinson and Ryan Gene Hinson, mother, brother, niece and nephew, great-niece, and many family members and friends. Preceded in death by his father. Joan G. Hrycak

of Buffalo Grove

Joan G. Hrycak, 82, died on Sept. 26. She worked in bookkeeping at Continental Bank and Colonial Bank in Chicago. Later she worked for Sears Outlet and St. Mary’s School in Buffalo Grove as the head lunch lady. From there she worked part-time for Long Grove Confectionery for 25 years and retired from JCPenney. She is survived by her husband, Stanley, daughter, two grandsons, brother, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins. Preceded in death by her parents and sister. Richard A. Nelson

Richard A. Nelson, 74, died on Sept. 18. He and his wife, Leslie, shared a life of travel and laughter, calling Palatine their home with best fur friend, Ozzie. He led a life of service both as a decorated war veteran and hard-working telephone lineman for over 40 years. Father to four, grandfather of two, brother and uncle. Adeline O. Rubino, 95, died on Sept. 26. She was the wife of the late Harry G. Rubino, mother of two, grandmother of two and great-grandmother of four, aunt to many nieces and nephews. Yoko Sato

Carole Stevens

of Buffalo Grove

Carole Stevens, 54, died on Sept. 17, after a 2-year battle with multiple myeloma. Stevens lived in Scotland and the U.S. Her passion in flower arranging continued through the years as she assisted her friend for weddings and other events. She was a qualified cartographer spending her early career in Scotland drawing maps of the seabed for BP’s oil exploration. When she moved to England, she was part of the team that digitized the World Atlas for a publisher and moved onto digitize airfields for aircraft simulators. After moving to the U.S., she became a full-time mother. Stevens is survived by her husband Ron, two daughters, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, mother-in-law and by her mother, Alison. Preceded in death by her father, Dennis Wood. Funeral arrangements provided by Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.

Raymond Stoga

of Arlington Heights

Raymond J. Stoga, 82, died on Sept. 25. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, three children, brother, six grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law. He and his wife moved to Arlington Heights where they raised their family and lived for more than 50 years. A graduate of Loyola University, his first job was teaching at his alma mater, Weber High School. He joined Sears Roebuck in their IT department in the 1960s, working for many years at the Sears Tower in Chicago. Retiring from Sears, he began consulting for companies in the IT arena before fully retiring and becoming a certified tax preparer and volunteer at the Arlington Heights Senior Center. Katherine M. Urban

of Arlington Heights

Katherine M. Urban, 82, died Sept. 23. Urban worked as a vice president for LaSalle Bank, she retired in January, 2005. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, two grandchildren, four siblings and by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her spouse of 45 years, Mario Urban, as well as her parents. Maria Winter, 98, died on Sept. 26. Winter was the wife of the late Michael Winter, mother to two, grandmother to three, and the late Elain Boburka, great-grandmother to 10. Winter was an avid baker and gardener. Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, Palatine, handled arrangements.
