Fred G. Borgardt, 86, died on March 3. Father of Barbara deWaard and Cindy Baughman, grandfather of four, great-grandfather of two; a brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling, handled arrangements.

Virginia Brauweiler

of Park Ridge

Virginia Brauweiler, 92, died Jan. 3. She had been an active parishioner and volunteer at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church and had volunteered at Rainbow Hospice and Resurrection Hospital. She was married for 64 years to Carl Brauweiler, a long-time treasurer of the city of Park Ridge who also served on the police and fire pension boards for the city. She is survived by her husband, four children and seven grandchildren. Preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Sandstrom. Funeral arrangements provided by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge.

Rosemary L. Cwik

of Park Ridge

Rosemary L. Cwik, 81, died on Feb. 20. She was the wife of Walter S. Cwik, mother of Walter and Dr. Christopher Cwik, grandmother of Calvin and Emmett Cwik; a sister and aunt. Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge, handled arrangements.

Ingvar Danielsson

of Prospect Heights

Ingvar Danielsson, 88, died on March 7. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ingalill; daughter, Nanette, three grandchildren, his brother, sister-in-law and numerous family members in Sweden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Maria; brother Gunnar Danielsson and niece Maria Danielsson. He was born in Falun, Sweden, and served in the Swedish coast guard before he immigrated to the U.S. in 1958. He worked as a bricklayer for many years. He retired in 1994. Over the years, he was a member of many Swedish clubs in the Chicago area. He lived in Elmhurst with his family for 43 years before moving to Prospect Heights. For 20 years, he volunteered at the Bensenville/Wood Dale Food Pantry. Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling, handled arrangements.

William Burchard Day

of Arlington Heights

William Burchard Day, 89, died on March 6. He had a long career in sales. Day loved cars, reading and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel Day, and his wife, Donna. He is survived by his two sons, Edward and Scott, four grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews. Friedrichs Funeral Home, Mount Prospect, handled arrangements.

Anita T. DeBartolo

of Buffalo Grove

Anita T. DeBartolo, 93, died March 3 at her home. She was an excellent baker and known for her homemade pizza, gnocchi and ravioli that she made from scratch. She was born to Italian immigrant parents. She grew up in the Taylor Street neighborhood and married Edward DeBartolo, Sr. They settled in the Grand and Western neighborhood and later moved to Buffalo Grove. She loved socializing at the Buffalo Grove Senior Center. In her 80s, with family assistance, she traveled to Hawaii, visited the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls in Canada and Italy. In her 90s, she traveled independently to California and Arizona to visit family. DeBartolo was the wife of the late Edward, mother to four, Nana to six and great-grandmother to six. Jacquelyn E. Dresmal 

of Glenview

Jacquelyn Elizabeth Dresmal (nee Carroll Cashmore), 87, died March 5. She passed away from complications with pneumonia. Dresmal was a lifelong resident of the Northern suburbs and graduated from Niles Township High School. She was a Teddy bear collector and often sewed outfits for her children, who called her “Queen Jackie”. Dresmal was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Cashmore, and her biological father, Ralph Carroll. She is survived by her husband, James Dresmal, three daughters, a step-daughter, a step-son, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. N.H. Daniel M. Filipek

of Mount Prospect

Daniel M. Filipek, 73, died unexpectedly on March 3. He was the husband of Jeanne, son of Wally and the late Helen, a brother, father of Scott, Joe, Michael and Douglas, and a grandfather of four. He was a tool and die maker, Chicago Public Schools teacher and adjunct college professor before enjoying retirement. He was a hunter, musician and a craftsman. Nancy J. Fischer

Nancy J. Fischer (nee Conrad), 87, died March 4. Fischer was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence G. Fischer and two children, Mickey Fischer and Alan Fischer. She is survived by a daughter, a son and seven grandchildren. Simkins Funeral Home, Morton Grove, handled arrangements.

Lucille V. Gabrovich

Lucille Veronica Gabrovich (nee Pagels), 99, died March 4. She was one of seven children, was an avid gardener and a member of St. Peter Community Church of Northbrook. Gabrovich was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elizabeth Pagels, her husband Victor Gabrovich and her son, Victor Gabrovich, Jr. She is survived by a son, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews. Audrey M. Hackett 

of Glenview, formerly of Winnetka, Northfield

Audrey M. Hackett (nee McKeever), 94, died March 5. Hackett worked for AMA Journal and as an election judge for 40 years. Later, she became a Life Master of bridge and an American Contract Bridge League certified instructor. She volunteered for many years in women’s shelters, and served as an architectural docent. Hackett was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred McKeever, and her husband, Hugh Patrick “Dooley” Hackett. Gus V. Keramidas

of Prospect Heights

Gus V. Keramidas, 62, husband of Vivian Keramidas for 36 years, died on March 8. He was the father of Velessarios Keramidas and Eleni Tertips, pappou of three, a brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. He was the son of the late Velessarios and Eleni born on the island of Kalamos, Greece. He came to America when he was 14, first to Washington, D.C., and then Chicago. Richard James Lee

of Rolling Meadows

Richard James Lee, 56, a production assistant for Clearbrook Industries in Rolling Meadows, died on March 7. He loved to spend time with his family, listen to music, watch movies, and go on walks. Lee is survived by his three siblings, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral arrangements provided by Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.

Susan Vikstrom Lukatch

of Park Ridge

Susan Vikstrom Lukatch died on Feb. 23. She was the wife of Edward and the mother of Miranda, daughter of Charlotte and Richard Vikstrom, sister and daughter-in-law. She was the driving force behind getting one million Marvel comics on an anti-drug theme donated to the children of Chicago. She served eight years as president of the Indian Boundary Park Advisory Council in Rogers Park and worked to have the play lot there rebuilt. She tirelessly lent help to those in need, actions which included driving a survivor of domestic abuse to a shelter, aiding a woman in the minutes after a purse snatching, or stopping a driverless vehicle. She donated to charities and gave of her time to help friends and acquaintances in their charitable work. Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park.

John J. Martin, Jr. 

of Glenview 

John J. “Jack” Martin, Jr., 77, died March 7. He passed away after a long battle with cancer. Martin was a graduate of Loyola Academy and Xavier University who went on to a long career as a trader on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. He was a strong supporter of Northwestern University athletics. Martin was also a law enthusiast and a longtime member of the Evanston Golf Club. Martin is survived by two sisters and a brother as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnellan Family Funeral Home, Skokie, handled arrangements.

Shirley J. Omartian 

of Glenview

Shirley J. Omartian (nee Evans), 84, died March 6. Omartian was raised in Smith, AK, and moved to Evanston after she was married. She operated AAA Lock and Key with her husband for 50 years. Omartian was preceded in death by Harry S. Omartian, her husband of 62 years, and her brother Ray Evans. Lillian H. Peska

of Park Ridge

Lillian H. Peska, 93, died on March 5 in her home. After marrying the late Richard Peska, the couple lived in Oak Park, where they raised their three daughters. She was a secretary at Murray & Houha law office. The family later moved to Park Ridge where Peska was a secretary at American Medical Technologists, an IHSA volleyball official, active at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Church and a member of many clubs, including 20th Century Club of Park Ridge. Peska is the grandmother of five and the late Christine Mueller and the great-grandmother of two. Nelson Funeral Home, Park Ridge, handled arrangements. 

Patricia J. Salani

of Niles

Patricia J. Salani, 86, wife of Robert J. Salani and mother of two, died on March 3. She was the grandmother of four, a sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Funeral arrangements provided by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles.

Bill Smith 

of Glenview 

Bill Smith, 85, died March 4. He was a native of Sharon Hill, PA, and moved to the Chicago area to attend Loyola Academy and Loyola University. Smith was also a proud U.S. veteran. He owned Webb Plastics in Northbrook for over four decades. Smith lived in Glenview for most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Smith (nee Rueber), four children and 13 grandchildren. Catherine Therese Trapp

of Arlington Heights

Catherine Therese Trapp, 95, was the youngest of seven children. She was an active volunteer at St. Edna’s Church in Arlington Heights. In her younger years, her service at St. Ignatius Parish and in other community activities laid the foundation for lifelong friendships. She was also a volunteer with the local Red Cross during World War II. Trapp is survived by her four children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Trapp, her parents, siblings, infant son, Thomas, and her son James and his wife, Linda. William J. Yates

of Des Plaines

William J. Yates, 69, died on March 5. He served the community in the roles of Maine Township Highway Dept. driver, Des Plaines Park District commissioner, as well as a Rosemont public safety officer. He enjoyed being involved with Boy Scouts Troop 22, was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist, and a proud member of both the Blue Knights and Top Cats. Yates was the husband of Janet E., father of two, grandfather to two, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral arrangements provided by Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines.

Peter Weiss

of Arlington Heights

Peter Weiss, 56, died in his sleep on March 5. Following his graduation from Maine West, he attended Arizona State University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy. He earned his degree in accounting from Western International University in 1991 and married Laura Baxter, who he met at Arizona State, a year later. Soon after, he passed the CPA exam after the birth of his son, John. He remained in the accounting/financial analysis field for 34 years. He finished his career at the Salvation Army’s Central Territory Headquarters in Hoffman Estates. This was his most gratifying position working under the Adult Rehabilitation Center division. Weiss is survived by his wife, Laura B., son, John P; his father, Arthur R.; brother, James R., as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert R. White

of Mount Prospect

Robert R. White, 78, also a resident of Estero, FL, died on Feb. 22. He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Carolynn Bobby Zillmer White; and his daughter, Deborah Groebner. He was a brother, brother-in-law, aunt, grandfather of two, great-grandfather of three. He was predeceased by son, Kevin White. White retired from Lucent Technologies as a project manager. He was a member of the Pickwick Golf Club, Teletype Club and Grace Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect. Funeral arrangements provided by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge.

Patrick E. Woytych

of Des Plaines

Patrick E. Woytych, 69, died at home on March 6. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was the husband of Linda Woytych for 30 years.
