Dennis A. Carroll, 83, died on May 21. He was the husband of Marion (nee Vlazny) for 55 years, a father of three, grandfather of five, brother and brother-in-law of Archbishop John Vlazny. An employee of Coca-Cola for over 40 years, he also worked in the accounting department of Maryville Academy. Life-long member of St. Emily Parish who served as an usher and Eucharistic minister. Lawrence Gostomski

of Niles

Lawrence Gostomski, 91, a Korean War veteran, died May 22. He was a brother, uncle, and great uncle. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles, handled arrangements.

Ronald S. Larson

Ronald S. Larson, 77, died on May 26. Larson was a systems analyst for John Crane in Morton Grove for over 40 years. He enjoyed volunteering for Operation Christmas Child. Alyce Ann Martinez

of Arlington Heights

Alyce Ann Martinez, 89, died on May 21. She is survived by her seven children, 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and son-in-law. Donald Robert Mundt

of Park Ridge

Donald Robert Mundt, 88, died on May 26. He served for four years in the Air Force during the Korean War and worked a 50-year career at Knox & Schneider Company. Mundt is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann, his daughter and son, five grandchildren and his half-brother. He is preceded in death by his brother, Lester. Erhard Panzilius, 89, died May 23. He was an active member of the Alpine Ski Club of Chicago, gardened and played a variety of sports. Panzilius was preceded in death by his wife, Herta. Estelle Ann Schaefer

of Wheeling

Estelle Ann Schaefer, 89, died May 17. She was the wife of the late Donald H. Schaefer, whom she married in 1953. They shared 65 years together before his passing in 2018. Schaefer graduated from Chicago Teachers College and spent her life teaching kindergarten and music. She was a devout Catholic, a member of St. James Parish, and Volunteers Unlimited, managing the food pantry at St. James for many years. She is survived by five children, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a sister and nieces and nephews. Lauterburg Oehler Funeral Home, Arlington Heights, handled arrangements.

William E. Staat

of Arlington Heights

William E. Staat, 96, died May 18. Staat served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 90th Infantry Division in France. He worked for the First National Bank of Des Plaines, retiring after over 35 years as senior vice president. He is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Wendell Allan Stoike

of Arlington Heights

Wendell Allan Stoike, 88, died on May 16. He spent his early years in Itasca. Later, his family moved to Arlington Heights. He served in the U.S. Army as a captain. Stoike retired from Sears Roebuck after 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, two daughters and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents. Marilyn J. Stothart, 95, wife of the late Benjamin Stothart, died on May 18. She made clothing and doll clothes for her grandchildren and loved watercolor painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers. She is survived by her four children, sisters, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bernadette Josephine Suchomski

formerly of Arlington Heights

Bernadette Josephine Suchomski, 95, died May 20 in Crystal Lake. After many positions in the cleaning industry, she worked as an administrative assistant for Blenner-Voss Insurance Agency in Arlington Heights for over 15 years. She is survived by her four children, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, her parents and two siblings. Konstantinos Theoharis

of Arlington Heights

Konstantinos Theoharis was born in Desfina, Greece. He died May 21 at the age of 85. Theoharis was a tool & die maker for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, discussing current events, watching westerns, cooking, and trips to Greece. He is survived by his wife, Popi, and his two children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lois K. Wagener 

of Glenview

Lois Kathryn Wagener (nee Sanders), 95, died May 20. Wagener was born in Kansas. In Kansas, her grandfathers worked as farmers. She attended Baker University before leaving to train as a nurse. Wagener first worked as a nurse in obstetrics at Paris Hospital in Paris, IL, and later transferred to Evanston Hospital. She was actively involved with various clubs associated with her church and school. She volunteered assisting the elderly nuns at Sacred Heart and was a driver/server for Meals on Wheels. Wagener is survived by her husband, Owen, six children, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other family members. Donnellan Family Funeral Home, Skokie, handled arrangements.

Wayne Thomas Zahorski

of Arlington Heights

Wayne Thomas Zahorski, 75, died on May 13. He was a privately contracted design engineer. A former member of the Skokie Valley Power Squadron. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Zahorski and his daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral arrangements provided by Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.
