Richard Hefferan, 86, died April 24. Husband of Margaret Hefferan. Also survived by his three sons and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter and two brothers. He was a longtime resident of Park Ridge and a member of St. Paul of the Cross Church. A former attorney at Allied Van Lines and the Alliance of American Insurers. Norma J. Rendina
of Park Ridge
Norma J. Rendina, 87, died April 17. She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Ronald, her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She worked primarily as a secretary and executive assistant. She owned a card and gift store for a number of years. She was a vocal feminist who marched for passage of the ERA in Illinois in the late 1970s. She served on the St. Matthew Service League and she was a longtime member of the women’s auxiliary of the Mazzini-Verdi Social Club. Most recently, she served as a “greeter” at Field Elementary School in Park Ridge, a position that provided her with an opportunity to be around her grandchildren and to share her humor, advice and joy for life. She continued to volunteer there well into her 80s. Wife of Ron for 67 years, Ron. Her daughter, Christine, lives in Madrid, Spain, and her son, Dean, and daughter, Carla, both live in Park Ridge. Margaret L. Wiscomb
of Glenview, formerly of Wilmette
Margaret L. “Marge” Wiscomb, 99, died April 20. Wiscomb was born in rural Minnesota, to two school teachers. She grew up with two brothers in Crosby, ND, where her father served as superintendent of schools for Divide County. Later, during the Great Depression, her family moved to Eugene, OR. In the early 1950s, Wiscomb moved with her husband and children to Wilmette, where they lived for 45 years. She enjoyed being active in several women’s clubs, as well as the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. Wiscomb was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Hal” Wiscomb and her son, Jeff Wiscomb. She is survived by two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Donnellan Family Funeral Home, Skokie, handled arrangements.
James W. Ziegler
of Palatine
James W. Ziegler, 63, died April 18. He had been employed in the IT field from its start in the 1970s. Recently, he was a project manager for Salesforce.com. He was vice president of the board of directors and editor-in-chief of the Quarterly Newsletter of the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago. A former volunteer fireman. Survived by his wife, Karen. He was a father, son, brother, uncle and great uncle.
