Niles Dist. 219 Hires Two New Assistant Superintendents

Niles Township High School Dist. 219 board members awarded two contracts to hire two new administrators to replace retiring assistant superintendents.

Beginning July 1, Niles North graduate Thomas Kim will replace Edmund Murphy as assistant superintendent of human resources. He will earn an annual salary of $175,375 for 260 days of work.

Sandra Arreguin will replace Anne Rolloff as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction beginning July 1. She will earn an annual salary of $175,125 for 260 days of work.

The district will pay both Arreguin and Kim’s employee share of contributions to the state Teachers Retirement System pension program and employee share of the state Teacher Health Insurance Security system. If their contracts are terminated because of long term disability, they would receive severances of $20,000.

Kim is currently employed as assistant superintendent of human resources at Community HIgh School Dist. 155 in Crystal Lake. His past positions include principal at Huntley Middle School in DeKalb, assistant principal for curriculum and instruction and athletic director, both at Grayslake Central High School. Kim began his career in education teaching history at Elgin High School in 2000.

After graduating from Niles North, Kim earned his bachelor’s degree in history from North Park University and master’s in educational leadership from Aurora University. He is enrolled in a doctoral program to earn a Ph.D in administration and supervision from Loyola University.

Sandra Arreguin.

Arreguin is presently employed as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment at Township High School Dist. 113. She has previously worked as principal of Northwood Junior High School in Highland Park and World Languages Chair and Director of English Learners at Highland Park High School. Arreguin also held several positions within Chicago Public Schools including working as a French and Spanish teacher before becoming assistant principal of Taft High School and working in the CPS office of language and cultural education.

Arreguín earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in French and a master’s of education degree with a focus on teaching and learning in secondary French from DePaul University. She earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Loyola University.
