Niles Blotter: Man’s Motion Brings Disorderly Conduct Charge

Disorderly Conduct Charged

A 59-year-old man from the 2100 block of Iroquois Road in Wilmette, was charged with disorderly conduct at Dunkin Donuts, 7039 W. Dempster St., at 4:09 p.m. Monday, April 22. He allegedly came up to where a woman was sitting with her nephew and daughter and made a motion as if to choke the children. The woman blocked him and contacted police. The man did not say anything to any of the victims or make any physical contact with the children. Police did not release the man’s name.

Harassment Charges

A 40-year-old man from the 100 block of Busse Highway in Park Ridge, was charged with harassment by electronic communications at 3:14 p.m. Monday, April 22. He allegedly called a woman repeatedly and sent her more than 100 text messages. An officer contacted him and he allegedly began swearing at the officer and called him back several times after the end of the first phone call. Police did not say where they apprehended the suspect. Police did not release the man’s name.

Drug Charges

A 23-year-old man from the 2800 block of W. Washington Blvd. in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 11:48 p.m. Thursday, April 18. An officer saw him allegedly rolling a suspected marijuana cigarette in his vehicle in the 7700 block of W. Main St. He allegedly had a case of suspected marijuana, a pipe, and a cannabis oil cartridge. Police did not release the man’s name.

Two 15-year-old girls, one from Niles and one from Des Plaines, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:29 p.m. Thursday, April 25. They were allegedly in possession of pipes during an investigation in the 8500 block of N. Ozanam Avenue.

DUI Charges

Jansen L. Teague Jr., 28, of the 1200 block of Rushmoore Drive in Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol at 1:36 a.m. Monday, April 22. Police stopped her at N. Greenwood Avenue and W. Dempster Street for allegedly weaving between lanes and driving on a flat tire. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later was offered a breath test. Police did not report if she submitted to the test or if any additional charges were placed against her.

Scam Reported

A man tricked a cashier at Fresh Farms, 5740 W. Touhy Ave., to give him $98 change by giving, then taking back a $100 bill for a small purchase. The cashier and supervisor believed the store was in possession of the bill when the change was made. The incident occurred at 9:26 p.m. Monday, April 22.

Alcohol Charges

A 54-year-old man from the 8800 block of Prospect Street in Niles, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday, April 23. He was taken into custody at the YMCA, 6300 W. Touhy Ave. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. Police did not release the man’s name.

A 50-year-old man from the 1200 block of S. Lincoln Avenue in Park Ridge, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at Jewel/Osco, 8730 W. Dempster St. At 12:13 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, he allegedly left the store without paying for three bottles of vodka. Police apprehended him at the scene and took him to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. Police did not report if any additional charges were placed against him. Police did not release the man’s name.

Retail Theft Charged

Adrienne B. Westenberger, 24, of the 4400 block of St. Louis Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Jewel/Osco, 8730 W. Dempster St. At 9:17 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, she allegedly left without paying for 73 items valued at a total of $389.06. Police located her nearby with a cart containing the items. She was also served an outstanding warrant from Chicago.

Retail Theft Reported

An unknown man took several packages of meat from Jewel/Osco, 8730 W. Dempster St., and fled in a waiting Dodge with another man inside. The theft occurred at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, April 24.

An unknown man took three pairs of socks from Kohl’s Department Store in Golf Mill Mall at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, April 25 and fled.

Driving Charges

Louis Fildisis, 41, of the 2000 block of Garden Street in Park Ridge, was charged with speeding at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 22. An officer pulled him over on W. Howard Street near N. Lehigh Avenue for allegedly driving at 64 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Won M. Jang, 52, of the 700 block of Sturnbridge Lane in Schaumburg, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and operation of a motor vehicle while using a communication device. Police stopped him for allegedly texting while driving at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at W. Ballard Road and N. Chester Avenue.

Burglaries Reported

Someone burglarized a home in the 7100 block of W. Lee Street before 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 24. It was unknown what, if anything, was taken from the house.

A window was broken and a backpack containing a computer, school supplies, gift cards, medications, and $68 cash was taken from a vehicle. The burglary occurred between 11:45 a.m. and 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at Taqueria Los Comales, 9055 N. Milwaukee Ave.

A stroller and five Easter baskets valued at a total of $1,100 were taken from a vehicle in the 5700 block of W. Touhy Avenue. The burglary occurred before 6:06 a.m. Thursday, April 25.
