Niles Blotter: Man Allegedly Makes Threatening Gesture, Charged

Assault Charged

Abraham Camargo, 24, of the 400 block of Martin Avenue in Waukegan, was charged with assault and possession of a controlled substance. At 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, two witnesses reportedly saw him and another man trying to urinate on a tree. When one of the witnesses yelled at them, Camargo allegedly yelled, “I will stab you and your dog,” while making a throat slashing gesture. Police allegedly found suspected cocaine on Camargo’s hands and wallet.

Ruse Burglary Reported

Two men came to a home in the 9300 block of N. Greenwood Avenue at 3:01 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 and told the resident they were there to do yard work. One of them walked him into the backyard where they talked for a few minutes. The victim did not know where the second man was during that conversation. The man he was with then got a telephone call and both men left. The victim found his bedroom had been ransacked and a safe pried open with jewelry and cash taken from inside the safe.

Disorderly Conduct Charged

A 56-year-old Niles man from the 7400 block of W. Seward Street was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and cost of emergency services. Police apprehended him in the 7400 block of W. Seward at 7:01 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 after he allegedly yelled obscenities at children playing in a yard, telling them to go back to their own country. Police did not release the man’s name.

Indecency Charged

Bancarden P. Mateos, 30, of the 8200 block of Elizabeth Avenue in Niles, was charged with public indecency at 1:26 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. Two juveniles allegedly asked him for $5 at Washington Park, 8884 N. Washington St. Mateos allegedly told the juveniles he only had $10 then pulled out his genitalia and asked if they wanted to perform a sexual act on him, police said.

Drug Charges

Gabriel Diaz-Soto, 27, of the 4300 block of W. Belden Street in Chicago, was charged with possession of weapon, driving with a suspended driver’s license, no valid driver’s license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was pulled over in the 6900 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue at 3:23 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 for investigation when his license plate came back with a report of a missing person. While speaking to him, police saw the handle of a gun alongside his seat. The gun was later identified as a BB-gun replica. A grinder and a pipe with cannabis residue were also allegedly recovered from the vehicle.

DUI Charges

August J. Whittington, 19, of the 8000 block of N. Oriole Avenue in Niles, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and improper lane usage. He was stopped at 1:42 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 after he allegedly crossed over a lane line then nearly struck two vehicles while trying to park his car. He allegedly admitted to using cannabis, ecstasy, and molly, police said.

Colleen M. Maloney, 41, of the 900 block of Hinman Avenue in Evanston, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no proof of insurance, and improper lane usage. An officer stopped her in the 9300 block of W. Milwaukee Avenue at 2:54 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .208 on a breath test.

Alcohol Charges

A 51-year-old Des Plaines man from he 9600 block of Greenwood Avenue, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 9:47 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3. He was located in the 8700 block of W. Golf Road, allegedly sleeping on the ground. He was taken to a local hospital. Police did not release the man’s name.

A 29-year-old Des Plaines man from the 9400 block of Bay Colony Drive was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 11:58 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. He was stopped in the 9000 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue. Police did not release the man’s name.

Russell J. Reynolds, 53, of no known address, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 10:44 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Police apprehended him in the 9000 block of N. Greenwood Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was also served an outstanding warrant from Cook County.

A 62-year-old Chicago woman from the 3700 block of N. Oriole Avenue was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. She was allegedly located asleep on a bench at Golf Mill Park, 9150 N. Cumberland Ave., with a jug of wine. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not release the woman’s name.

A 36-year-old Chicago woman from the 7400 block of N. Osceola Avenue, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 4:11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. She was allegedly located asleep on the sidewalk in the 7600 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not release the woman’s name.

Retail Theft Charged

A 46-year-old Chicago man from the 7100 block of Melvina Avenue was charged with petite theft at 1:06 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2. He was stopped at Target, 6150 W. Touhy Ave., after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for merchandise valued at a total of $55.08. Police did not release the man’s name.

James A. Lange, 35, of the 3700 block of S. Giles Street in Chicago, was charged with retail theft at 5:32 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. He was stopped at Kohl’s Department Store in Golf Mill Mall after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for merchandise.

A 67-year-old Antioch man from the 400 block of Joren Trail, was charged with petite theft at 4:28 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. He was stopped at Target in Golf Mill Mall after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for merchandise valued at a total of $88.87. Police did not release the man’s name.

Retail Theft Reported

An unknown man took clothing valued at $126.99 from Kohl’s Department Store in Golf Mill Mall at 6:23 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.

An unknown man took three bottles of liquor from Target, 6150 W. Touhy Ave., at 2:58 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.

Driving Charges

Ionut G. Maties, 24, of 10000 Linda Ln., Des Plaines, was charged with speeding at 8:01 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2. She was stopped in the 6700 block of W. Howard Street for allegedly driving at 61 mph in a 30 mph zone.

A 17-year-old Chicago boy was charged with speeding at 8:11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. He was stopped in the 8900 block of N. Washington Street for allegedly driving at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Selvin E. Morales-Ralda, 36, of the 5200 block of Lovejoy Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, improper lane usage, and no rear registration plate light. He was pulled over in the 7000 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6.

Jenny Hernandez, 36, of the 4300 block of N. Lawndale Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and expired registration. An officer stopped her at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at N. Milwaukee and N. Neward avenues.

Ayesha Ahmad, 26, of the 4800 block of Louise Street in Skokie, was charged with speeding, no turn signal, and improper lane usage. She was stopped at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 on Cumberland Avenue near Dempster Street for allegedly driving at 56 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving over the lane markings.

Chi M. O’Neal, 34, of the 4700 block of S. Vincennes Street in Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. She was apprehended after an alleged traffic crash in the 9500 block of W. Milwaukee Avenue at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Burglaries and Thefts

Someone took a laptop computer and video game equipment from a home in the 8100 block of W. Davis Street before 3:09 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3.

All four tires were taken from a vehicle in the 7800 block of N. Nordica Avenue before 7:12 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6.

Cash and several car titles were taken from a home in the 8400 block of W. Madison Drive before 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. A resident told police he met a woman at a bar the night before, brought her home, and had some drinks. He said he remembers making out with the woman, but could not recall anything else. The woman was gone when he awoke.
