Niles Blotter: Argument Over Face Masks Results In Charges

Disorderly Conduct Charged

Michael J. Christ, 74, of the 2800 block of N. Hamlin Avenue in Chicago, and Suzanne V. Pauletto, 53, of the 6600 block of N. Spokane Avenue in Lincolnwood, were charged with disorderly conduct at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. The two allegedly got into an argument at Jersey Mike’s, 5961 W. Touhy Ave., about face masks. When Christ left the restaurant, Pauletto allegedly pushed a shopping cart into him and he struck her in the face.

Baldomero Martinez, 35, of the 8200 block of W. Elizabeth Avenue in Niles, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct. On two occasions, he allegedly looked through a woman’s window while she was changing clothing. He was taken into custody at 8:28 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.

Obstructing Police

Aprim Kiorkis, 26, of the 9000 block of W. Emerson Avenue in Des Plaines, was charged with obstructing police and possession of cannabis. He was apprehended in the 7900 block of Golf Road at 4:47 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5. Police did not release any details about the alleged incident.

Scam Reported

A Niles man told police at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 that he lost $9,500 in a telephone scam over the previous several days. The victim said a man called him and told him that his personal information was used to rent a car in Texas and that blood and drugs were found inside the vehicle. The caller convinced the man he could avoid trouble by purchasing $500 gift cards and furnishing the card numbers to him. The victim complied and the man called again a few days later and performed the same scam on him again. The victim then realized it was a scam.

Drug Charges

Alexis Ayala, 26, of the 4300 block of W. Wilcox Avenue in Chicago, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding at 10:03 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2. Police stopped him at Dempster Street and Oleander Avenue for allegedly driving at 56 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was allegedly in possession of three pipes and a grinder. Police did not state if any additional tickets were given to him.

Thomas H. Kemnitz, 22, of the 5800 block of N. Winthrop Avenue in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis at 8:42 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5. He was apprehended in the 7300 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue. He was also served an outstanding warrant.

DUI Charges

Froylan C. Martinez, 34, of the 4700 block of N. Springfield Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol at 10:04 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. An officer pulled him over at Milwaukee Avenue and Waukegan Road for allegedly making several lane violations. He allegedly refused field sobriety tests and later was offered a breath test. Police did not report if he submitted to the test or if any additional charges were placed against him.

Qasim Mahdi, 23, of the 2800 block of Glenlake Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and speeding. He was pulled over in the 6600 block of W. Touhy Avenue at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 for allegedly speeding. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded more than the legal limit on a breath test.

Alcohol Charges

Thomas Orban, 22, of the 9000 block of Meade Avenue in Morton Grove, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 3:34 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. He was apprehended in the parking lot of Chaser’s Bar, 9003 N. Milwaukee Ave. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bar owner, Daniel Andrukiewicz, 43, of the 9000 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, was charged with over-serving an intoxicated patron.

Edgardo Cruz-Salazar, 45, of 1840 W. Parkside Dr., Park Ridge, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. He was located in the 8800 block of N. Prospect Street allegedly with an open bottle of tequila and an open can of beer in his vehicle.

Retail Theft Reported

An unknown person took clothing from Old Navy, 8315 W. Golf Rd., at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Driving Charges

Gheorghe Pavel, 67, of the 800 block of W. Golf Cul De Sac in Des Plaines, was charged with speeding at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. Police stopped him in the 8100 block of W. Dempster Street for allegedly driving at 64 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Heriberto Moran-Rulas, 28, of the 5100 block of S. Whipple Street in Chicago, was charged with no valid driver’s license at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. An officer pulled him over in the 8900 block of Greenwood Avenue for allegedly not wearing a seat belt. Police did not state if any additional tickets were given to him.

Eric G. Rosine, 35, of the 4200 block of Elm Street in Downers Grove, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. He was stopped in the 8900 block of N. Greenwood Avenue for allegedly not having a valid safety test sticker. Police did not state if any additional tickets were given to him.

Bashar Alrez, 19, of the 100 block of Millbrook Lane in Wilmette, was charged with speeding. He was stopped at Dempster and Athletic streets at 9:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5 for allegedly driving at 87 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Burglary Reported

Tools valued at a total of $3,900 were taken from a shipping container in the 7700 block of N. Merrimac Avenue between 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 and 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
