Niles Blotter: 2 Face Charges Over Fight At Tanning Salon

Domestic Battery Charged

Nicholas G. Reeves, of the 8800 block of W. Golf Road in Niles, was charged with domestic battery at 10:01 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He was taken into custody at his home after allegedly punching a woman in the mouth.

Ramon Jimenez-Hernandez, 37, of the 8200 block of W. Elizabeth Street in Niles, was charged with aggravated domestic battery at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. He allegedly choked a woman at his home; she was able to get away and lock herself and her two children into a bedroom and call police.

Order Violation Charged

Bernard Berg, 52, of the 7400 block of Skokie Blvd. in Skokie, was charged with violation of an order of protection, public intoxication, and cost of emergency services. He and a 58-year-old woman from the 7400 block of Skokie Blvd. in Skokie, allegedly argued at Palm Beach Tan, 5653 W. Touhy Ave., at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. She allegedly kicked him in the groin and he allegedly slapped and choked her. When officers arrived they found the woman allegedly had an active order of protection against the man. The woman was also charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services. Police did not release the woman’s name.

Drug Charges

An 18-year-old Chicago man was charged with possession of cannabis and speeding after a traffic stop at W. Dempster Street and N. Harlem Avenue. He was the passenger in a vehicle stopped at 8:32 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 for allegedly driving at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was allegedly in possession of a suspected marijuana cigar, police said.

A 20-year-old man from the 1300 block of N. 24th Avenue in Melrose Park, was charged with possession of cannabis; a 17-year-old Chicago girl was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police stopped the man’s vehicle at W. Ballard Road and N. Milwaukee Avenue at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 after someone in the vehicle allegedly threw trash out of a window. Officers allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana, a grinder, and a glass pipe from the vehicle.

DUI Charges

Oscar A. Quevedo, 59, of the 6700 block of N. Central Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding. An officer pulled him over in the 7500 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 for allegedly driving at 55 mph in a 35 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later was offered a breath test. Police did not report if he submitted to the test or if any additional charges were placed against him.

Igor Jovic, 36, of the 9000 block of W. Terrace Drive in Niles, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol at 5:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10. He was taken into custody after an alleged traffic crash in the 9500 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later was offered a breath test. Police did not report if he submitted to the test or if any additional charges were placed against him.

Adolfo Toledo, 26, of the 600 block of Piper Lane in Prospect Heights, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked driver’s license, and possession of a revoked driver’s license. Two passengers in his vehicle, a 39-year-old man from the 500 block of S. Cleveland Avenue in Arlington Heights, and a 30-year-old man from the 300 block of Oak Trails Road in Des Plaines, were charged with illegal transportation of alcohol. Toledo was pulled over at W. Church Street and N. Cumberland Avenue at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later was offered a breath test. Police did not report if he submitted to the test or if any additional charges were placed against him. Police did not release the names of the other men.

Alcohol Charges

A 36-year-old man from the 9000 block of W. Terrace Drive in Niles, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 6:46 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. He was found allegedly sitting on the ground in the 8600 block of W. Dempster Street, using the bumper of a truck as a head rest. He allegedly told officers he had 17 beers and several shots. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police did not release the man’s name.

Retail Theft Charged

Meri M. Manika, 58, of the 500 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue in Prospect Heights, was charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to property. On May 22, she had been banned from Target in Golf Mill Mall. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, she allegedly left the store and escaped without paying for five cans of energy drink valued at a total of $17.45. At 3:02 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, she was stopped after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for one can of the energy drink valued at $3.49.

A 22-year-old woman from he 1400 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston was charged with petite theft at 9:51 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. While working at Target, 6150 W. Touhy Ave., she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at a total of $144.92. Police did not release the woman’s name.

A 56-year-old woman from the 9500 block of Kedvale Avenue in Skokie, was charged with petite theft at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. She was stopped at Fresh Farms, 5740 W. Touhy Ave., after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for items valued at a total of $92.57. Police did not release the woman’s name.

A 14-year-old Park Ridge boy was charged with petite theft at 2:52 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Target in Golf Mill Mall. He allegedly tried to leave without paying for a phone charger valued at $14.99.

Amedeo Fedele, 34, of the 300 block of W. Root Street in Chicago, was charged with retail theft at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. He was stopped a Target, 6150 W. Touhy Ave. after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for items valued at a total of $328.79.

Service Theft Reported

A cab driver told police he picked up a fare from Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Rd. in Des Plaines, and brought him to Highland Towers, 8815 W. Golf Rd., at 4:44 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The man told the driver he needed to go inside to get money and took the elevator to the 10th floor. He never returned. The fare was $43, police said.

Retail Theft Reported

Four women took several items from Old Navy, 8315 W. Golf Rd., at 4:19 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.

An unknown man took two computers valued at a total of $2,518 from Target, 5630 W. Touhy Ave., and fled without paying at 8:12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.

Three women and a man took over-the-counter medications from Walgreens Drug Store, 8001 N. Milwaukee Ave., at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Driving Charges

Juan Trujillo, 33, of the 4600 block of E. Wonder Lake Road in Wonder Lake, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and improper registration. He was pulled over in the 7200 block of Dempster Street at 7:53 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

Juan M. Garcia-Munoz, 46, of the 700 block of Elizabeth Street in West Chicago, was charged with no valid driver’s license and no safety sticker at 8:20 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7. Police stopped him in the 7200 block of Dempster Street.

Cruz Martinez-Ramirez, 49, of the 1500 block of N. 39th Avenue in Stone Park, was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license and no safety sticker. An officer pulled him over in the 7200 block of Dempster Street at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

Tae K. Lee, 49, of the 7400 block of N. Lincoln Avenue in Skokie, was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license and operation of a motor vehicle while using a communication device. He was stopped at W. Howard Street and N. Caldwell Avenue at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

Sergio I. Hernandez, 28, of the 7100 block of Schreiber Avenue in West Chicago, was charged with no valid driver’s license and speeding. Police pulled him over at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 for allegedly driving at 48 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 7200 block of N. Harlem Avenue.

Martina B. Elias, 29, of the 8300 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, was charged with no valid driver’s license and driving on the wrong side of the road. She was pulled over at 8:33 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 in the 7900 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue.

Juan Casas, 32, of the 1900 block of N. 18th Avenue in Melrose Park, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and expired safety test at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He was stopped in the 7000 block of Dempster Street.

Zeraim Jackson, 47, of the 400 block of E. Bowen Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He was apprehended after an alleged traffic crash in the 8100 block of W. Oakton Street.

Burglary Reported

A wallet containing credit cards was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 9000 block of N. Clifton Avenue between 5:30 and 11:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

Vandalism Report

Someone scratched a vehicle in the 7300 block of N. Melvina Avenue between 11 and 11:59 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.
