MP Police Blotter: Man Threatens Family; Lost Bike Found

DUI Charge

Maria Elena Robles, 41, of 584 S. Wayne Place, Wheeling, was charged July 6 with driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and illegal lane usage. According to police, officers were on routine patrol at approximately 8:31 p.m. near the intersection of Mount Prospect Road and Milburn Avenue when they observed a vehicle cross the center yellow line and swerve back into the northbound lanes of Mount Prospect Road. She reportedly failed to perform standardized field sobriety tests.

Assault Report

Police at 9:21 p.m. July 4 responded to the area of Busse Avenue and We Go Trail for an assault report. A woman told police her husband and children were walking on the sidewalk near We Go Trail and Busse Avenue when a man began accusing her husband of bumping into him. The man got into her husband’s face and she believed they were about to fight. She called 911 and told police the man stated he would kill them as he walked away from the scene. Police were unable to locate the man.

Investigation Call

Police at 5:18 p.m. July 12 responded to Menards, 740 E. Rand Road, for an investigation. The general manager told police he was standing outside Brunswick Zone, 824 E. Rand Road, because he followed a male that he believed stole items from Menards and ran into the bowling alley. Police were unable to locate the man in the alley. The man tried to walk away from the store with a $169.99 air conditioner and $39.99 deluxe fan.

Financial Identity Theft Report

Police July 18 received a report from a man stating he noticed suspicious activity on his credit card pertaining to unauthorized purchases totaling $176.29. He told police he last used his card at 2:30 p.m. that day at Chick-fil-A in Schaumburg. He told police he contacted his bank to dispute the charges and canceled the card. The bank froze the account.

Retail Theft Report

Police July 11 received a retail theft report from the assistant manager of KD Market, 1046 S. Elmhurst Road, who stated that two retail thefts in July occurred at the store. He told police it was possibly the same offender in both incidents. According to police, surveillance video showed a bottle of cognac valued at $52.99 being stolen by the unknown man July 6 and six bottles of whiskey totaling $319.94 taken on July 11.

Theft Report

Police July 5 received a report from a woman stating she was missing a $590 pair of gold, diamond and ruby earrings from her jewelry box. She last saw the earrings approximately two weeks prior. She said she opened the jewelry box the day before reporting to police, and the earrings were missing. She told police she had two suspects in her apartment over the past two weeks prior to reporting. The first person lives across the hall from her and cleans her apartment for extra money, but the woman denied taking the earrings. The other person, the report said, were painters.

Theft Of Lost Property

Police at 6:39 p.m. July 6 responded to the parking lot of Office Max, 201 W. Rand Road, for a found item. A man told police that at approximately 9 a.m. July 3 he arrived at work at Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi, 1 W. Rand Road, and went outside where he left his mountain bike. He noticed it was gone. He left the bike there at approximately 4 p.m. June 30 and did not lock it. He told police he did not file a report because he thought the bike would be located and he did not want to waste time on the report. While he was walking to Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, 211 W. Rand Road, he noticed the bike locked to the rack outside Office Max. Police expected to review security cameras to determine who took the bike valued at $300.

Criminal Damage

A man July 5 told police someone slashed the tires on his vehicle overnight. He told police he parked the car in the parking lot of 1400 Yarmouth Place around 9:20 p.m. July 4, but when he returned at 6:45 a.m. July 5, he noticed two flat tires. Damage was estimated at $500.

Police at 11:16 a.m. July 5 were dispatched to Burning Bush Trails Park, 1313 Burning Bush Lane, for a criminal damage to property report. A man told police someone damaged a display case erected outside the park building. He told police he observed the display case intact at 6 a.m. July 1, but at 6 a.m. July 2, four of the six plexiglass windows were broken and removed from the frame. The aluminum frame was pulled away from the molding of the display case. Damage was estimated at $500.

Police at 9:02 a.m. July 13 responded to 902 Feehanville Drive for a criminal damage to vehicle report. A man told police he arrived to work at approximately 6:45 a.m. and found his driver’s side window broken at 8:30 a.m.

Burglary To Motor Vehicle

Police July 11 received a report from a woman stating she parked her vehicle in the driveway of her residence on E. Berkshire Lane at approximately 7 p.m. July 10 and left the doors unlocked. She returned to the car at approximately noon July 11 and noticed items inside the car scattered throughout. She noticed several items were missing including a bag, glasses, portofolio bank papers and more, worth a value of $380.

Theft From Motor Vehicle

Police July 5 received a report from a man stating the catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle parked in the lot outside his apartment at 2372 Cannon Drive. He told police he parked the car at 9 p.m. July 4 and when he started the car at approximately 12:18 p.m. the following day, he heard a loud noise. He checked under the vehicle and saw the converter was missing.
