The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that 30-year-old Jun Zheng died Friday from a single gunshot to the back, ruling the death a homicide.
According to Palatine police, at approximately 6 p.m. Nov. 17, police and fire department personnel responded to a report of someone down and bleeding in the 800 block of S. Plum Grove Road.
Upon arrival, officers located Zheng on the front porch of his residence. Police said he had sustained life threatening injuries due to an apparent gunshot wound and was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to police, this appears to be an isolated incident and the police department continues to investigate. They ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 847-359-9000.
