Masked Man Barges In, Demands Money

Battery Charged

Thomas C. Lauletta, 28, of 900 S. Sixth Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with battery at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. He allegedly spat in the face of a security guard while being treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Sanela Petrov, 34, of 6247 W. Raven St. Basement Unit, Chicago, was charged with battery at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. She was taken into custody in the 1800 block of Parkside Drive after she allegedly grabbed a 26-year-old woman by the hair and threw her to the floor during an argument.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with battery at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 after allegedly fighting at Maine East High School.

Home Invasion

A resident of a home in the 200 block of Thames Avenue told police an unknown man wearing a ski mask entered his house at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3. The man, holding a miniature baseball bat woke the man and demanded money. The victim told police he gave the man about $80. The suspect then saw a safe in the room and ordered the man to open it. The man gave him $300 from the safe. The suspect then took the man’s watch and cellular telephone before fleeing. The victim did not report the incident for two days, police said.

Visitation Interference

Edwin F. Bush III, 40, of 8974 N. Western Ave. #114, Des Plaines, was charged with unlawful visitation interference. He was charged at the Park Ridge Police Dept. at 8:34 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.

Assault Charged

Ashley R. Kirkland, 37, of 420 S. Knight Ave., Park Ridge, was charged with aggravated assault at her home. Police apprehended her at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 after she allegedly threatened a family member with a 13” kitchen knife.

Disorderly Conduct Charged

Robert J. Serafini, 31, of 1017 Peterson Ave. #B6, Park Ridge, was charged with disorderly conduct at 4:16 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. He was allegedly shouting at his home, awakening and alarming his neighbors, police said. He was taken into custody at his house.

Drug Charges

A 15-year-old girl was charged with possession of cannabis at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 after she was allegedly found to have suspected marijuana at Maine East High School.

Julian M. Dupont, 21, of 2625 Mitchell Dr., Woodridge, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving with a suspended driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and improper use of registration. He was stopped in the 200 block of W. Touhy Avenue at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18.

Retail Theft Charged

Spencer J. Szarek, 32, of 1726 W. 106th Pl., Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Monday, Feb. 12. At 3:52 p.m., he allegedly left Walgreens Drug Store, 800 Devon Ave., without paying for dog food, shampoo, and other items valued at a total of $222. He allegedly fled but police pulled him over and took him into custody in the 6000 block of Overhill Avenue in Chicago a short time later.

Retail Theft Reported

A man and a woman took vitamins from a store in the 2600 block of Dempster Street at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 and fled without paying.

Driving Charges

Kenneth W. Ankebrant, 67, of 3400 N. Osage Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. Police stopped him at 2:07 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 in the 500 block of S. Greenwood Avenue.

Asia Winters, 35, of 7601 S. South Shore Dr. #209, Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device. An officer pulled her over in the first block of S. Prospect Avenue at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Husam S. Hamdan, 49, of 707 Goodwin Dr., Park Ridge, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and operation of a motor vehicle while using a communication device at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. He was stopped in the 2100 block of W. Touhy Avenue.

Aslan M. Tambiev, 19, of 934 W. Church St. Unit B2, Des Plaines, was charged with no valid driver’s license at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12. Police pulled him over in the 100 block of N. Northwest Highway.

Burglaries and Thefts

Batteries were taken from unsecured cable power supply boxes in the 1100 block of Stewart and the 1100 block of S. Delphia avenues between Thursday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 2.

Someone took a wallet that a woman left on a table in a restaurant in the first block of S. Northwest Highway. The theft occurred between 1:10 and 1:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

A package was taken from a porch in the 300 block of S. Fairview Avenue at about 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

Someone tried to enter a garage in the 300 block of Arthur Street, damaging the lock. The incident occurred between Friday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 4.

A lock was damaged at a home in the 300 block of N. Dee Road between 8:42 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 and 7:12 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. No entry appeared to have been gained.

Someone took a wallet containing credit cards and cash from a person’s jacket in the 500 block of W. Touhy Avenue between 6:15 and 9:32 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Jewelry was taken from a home in the 400 block of Cedar Street between 9 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9.

Someone took a laptop computer from a 2008 Subaru in a garage in the 1200 block of Frances Avenue between 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 and 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Police found no signs of forced entry to the garage or vehicle.

Several items were taken from an unlocked 2013 Infinity in a garage in the 500 block of S. Knight Avenue between 8:46 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 and 11:46 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Police found no signs of forced entry to the garage.

A tool bag was taken from an unlocked 2010 Ford in the 400 block of S. Lincoln Avenue between 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 and 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15.

Warrant Apprehension

Francina Lio, 25, of 2746 74th Ave., Elmwood Park, was served an outstanding warrant at 5:36 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. She was taken into custody in the 500 block of S. Greenwood Avenue.

Vandalism Reports

A window was broken on a 2008 Honda in the 800 block of Sylviawood Avenue between 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4 and 7:56 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5.

Someone broke the windshield on a 2017 Kia in the first block of S. Fairview Avenue between 11:41 a.m. and 4:41 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5.

An egg was smashed the window of a 2007 Volkswagen in the 300 block of S. Delphia Avenue between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 and 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8.

A window was broken on a home under construction in the 400 block of S. Clifton Avenue between 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.
