League of Women Voters of Glenview-Glencoe will host a series of candidate forums for four school districts — 225, 34, 31, and 30 — serving Glenview, all via Zoom on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19.

The forums will run for one hour each, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with Northbrook Glenview School Dist. 30 candidates followed by candidates for West Northfield School Dist. 31 and Glenview School Dist. 34.

Sunday, March 19 will see candidates for Glenbrook High School Dist. 225 square off in a Zoom forum.

Videos of the forums will be posted for on-demand viewing through the league’s website and social media pages within 24 hours of each candidate forum, league officials said.

Glenview-Glencoe League President Susan Swaringen said all but two candidates have confirmed their participation in the forums. Friday, Swaringen said she was still waiting to hear from Dist. 225 candidate Paul Kelly. She said Dist. 34 candidate Jennifer Patel is not available to attend the March 18 forum but said Patel has been in discussions with league officials for some kind of alternative arrangement such as possibly providing a candidate statement.

The standard operating procedure for League candidate forums is for a moderator to be brought in from a chapter outside the area of any given election. Swaringen said outside candidate forum moderators would be brought in from Evanston to moderate the Dist. 225 forum. Two moderators will be brought in for the three elementary school district forums on Saturday, March 18 from Arlington Heights and Lake Bluff.

A village trustee candidate meet and greet hosted by the League is also scheduled for Wednesday, March 22 at the Glenview Public Library. Support local news by subscribing to the Journal & Topics in print or online.
