Kalo Speaker To Discuss Architect Benjamin Marshall


Kalo Foundation member Steven B. Monz will present a program on the career of “Benjamin Marshall: Chicago Architect and Bon Vivant” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Iannelli Studios Heritage Center, 255 N. Northwest Hwy.

Monz is head docent and a longtime board member of the Benjamin Marshall Society, and a board member of the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation.

Marshall’s contributions to the architectural landscape of Chicago included the creation of East Lake Shore Drive, the Drake Hotel, Edgewater Beach Hotel, the South Shore Cultural Center, the Blackstone Hotel and the Blackstone Theater. From his mansion on Wilmette’s lakeshore, Marshall hosted parties for the elite.
