In the predawn hours of Friday, May 19, Glenview police officers deployed to the Dunkin’ Donuts at Milwaukee and Lake avenues for an operation raising $2,749 for Special Olympics Illinois.

Officers were joined by media personalities from Rock 95.5 FM as they took donations in the lobby, at the drive-thru and sold Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run merchandise.

“We had a great day. Many thanks to the very generous donors,” Glenview Police Sgt. Joel Detloff said.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Dunkin’ and Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois partnership. More than $7.6 million has been raised in Illinois over the years, according to Special Olympics.

The next Law Enforcement Torch Run event is the torch run itself next month, which Glenview officers are expected to participate in.
