Girls Golf Roundup: Prospect Keeps Rolling


Prospect girls golfers finished the regular varsity season with a dual match record of 15-1 (10-1 in Mid Suburban conference play).

Another highlight for the Knights came in a 4-stroke victory Monday (Sept. 17) over Loyola at Mount Prospect Golf Club, 163-167.

Kelly Kavanagh took medalist honors for the match by shooting a 38 for Prospect — one stroke better than Loyola’s top golfer Lily Gentzkow. Other scores for the Knights: Emily Fleming (40), Taylor DiPrima (41), Amanda Stein (44), Emma Gries (44), Bennie Okamoto (44), Olivia Accardi (44).

After Gentzkow, scoring for Loyola were Mary Boesen (40), Shea Graf (42), Grace Kryscio (46).

In other girls golf action:

Conant 185, Hersey 200: Michelle Zhang shot a 41 on the par-35 Fox Run course in Elk Grove Village to lead the Cougars. Sydney Ohr fired a 46 for the Huskies.

Conant 185, Maine South 193: Michelle Zhang did it again, taking medalist honors with a 38 at Fox Run. Noreen Daly led Maine South with a 46 followed closely by Theresa Daly’s 48.

Elk Grove d. Rolling Meadows, Palatine: The Grenadiers varsity squad tied their lowest score of the season to cap a 6-5 record in MSL play.

Fremd 185, Elk Grove 194, Wheeling 194: Symantha and Adrienne Rohwedder continued to prove they’re among the area’s golf elite by shooting a 37 and 38 respectively to lead all golfers in the tri-meet at Palatine Hills. Kellie Liu carded the top score of the day for Fremd with a 41. Grace Majer fired a 46 for Elk Grove followed by teammate Anna Spenger’s 47.
