Elk Grove Village Inks Chicago White Sox Sponsorship Deal To Market Business Park

Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson announced a major expansion of the village’s “Makers Wanted” marketing campaign for the village’s business park with the Chicago White Sox at the Tuesday, March 23 village board meeting.

The $55,000 White Sox sponsorship joins another “Makers Wanted Sponsoring the American Dream” marketing partnership, sponsoring USA Track & Field, Wrestling, and Triathlon teams bound for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

In all 157 White Sox games, except five nationally televised games, the Sox will designate and announce one Makers Wanted inning in which the Makers Wanted logo would be shown and will air at least one Elk Grove Village Makers Wanted commercial during those games.

Johnson said the commercials, with the theme, “Supporting the American dream for athletes and businesses,” will air throughout the Midwest and anywhere NBC Sports Chicago is seen.

Johnson said the marketing company 4Front would be working with the White Sox on the village’s behalf. Funds to pay for the new marketing campaign are coming from a tax increment financing district in the business park.

Sports marketing is not new for the village. Several years ago, when the Chicago Cubs had their winning season, the village ran a marketing campaign with them. After leaving the Cubs, the village sponsored the ESPN Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl in 2018 and 2019, and last year began sponsoring the three Olympic bound teams.
