Township High School Dist. 214 board member Alva Kreutzer has been elected to a two-year term on the board of directors of the Illinois Association of School Boards.

“We are proud and honored by Alva’s election to the IASB Board of Directors,” Dist. 214 Board President Dan Petro said. “The leadership and vision she has brought to her 20 years of work as a Dist. 214 board member has been instrumental in Dist. 214 earning a prominent role — regionally and nationally as well as locally — in shaping improved learning experiences and outcomes for all students and better preparing students for success beyond high school.”

Kreutzer, of Elk Grove Village, is among the Northwest suburbs’ longest-serving school board members, having served on the Dist. 214 board for 20 years. Kreutzer, who works for Niles Township High School Dist. 219 as an executive assistant, has been both president and vice president of the Dist. 214 board.

In addition to her Dist. 214 work, Kreutzer has been involved in other avenues of community service. She has been a panelist and spokesperson on the role and importance of women in public policy leadership. She also previously served on the board of education for Elk Grove Township Elementary School Dist. 59.

The IASB Board of Directors meets quarterly and is responsible for the governing policies of the association. The IASB counts among its responsibilities providing training, networking opportunities and a wide range of support services for local school boards and their members.
