Des Plaines Golf Center Makes $8,000 Selling Used Golf Balls

Golf Center Des Plaines, 353 N. River Road.

Over 170,000 golf balls deemed “unusable” by the Des Plaines Golf Center will be sold to other golfing centers, ranges and courses in the near future.

The Des Plaines Park District sold the balls to a California-based company for $8,000, said Gene Haring, head of marketing and communications for the park district. He said the company cleans and re-sells the balls after purchasing them.

Golf balls that no longer meet Golf Center standards are separated from the rest and sold every three years, according to Haring.

Golfers can work on their game on the par-3, nine-hole Golf Center course, driving range and short game practice area at 353 N. River Rd.
