Des Plaines Blotter: 18-Year-Old Faces Robbery Charge, More

Robbery Charged

An 18-year-old Des Plaines man was charged with aggravated robbery, tampering with a motor vehicle, and theft of motor vehicle parts. Police did not release any additional details about the incident and the Journal & Topics Newspapers has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the city for the report.

Stolen Vehicle

A red Freightliner semi-tractor was taken from the 600 block of Northwest Highway between 12:01 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 and 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside, police said.

Scam Reported

An unknown person called a resident at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 and said he could help with a scholarship but the resident needed to provide him with a $350 gift card first. The victim obtained the card and gave him the activation numbers. The caller then requested a $500 gift card. The victim obtained and transferred the information for that card as well. The caller did not give the victim any services in exchange for the cards.

Drug Charges

Marco A. Texis, 28, of 1289 S. Cora St., Des Plaines, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and traffic violations. Police did not release any additional details about the incident and the Journal & Topics Newspapers has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the city for the report.

Retail Theft Reported

A known woman took meat from a store in the 2100 block of Mannheim Road at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.

Burglaries and Thefts

Jewelry was taken from a home in the 100 block of N. East River Road between 9 a.m. and 7:27 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.

A leaf blower was taken from a trailer in the 1400 block of Redeker Road before 10:22 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5.

Packages that had been delivered to a home in the 1200 block of Washington Street were taken between 3 and 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.

Vandalism Reports

A window was broken on a home in the 800 block of E. Oakton Street at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.

Windows were broken on a vehicle in the 800 block of E. Oakton Street before 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
