Del Mar To Head Palatine Township Road District

The Palatine Township Board appointed Aaron Del Mar as the township’s new highway commissioner Monday, May 23.

Former Highway Commissioner Tom Kaider resigned his position effective May 23 due to personal and health-related issues.

“I must step down as highway commissioner,” Kaider said. “It was a pleasure to serve the Road District, I enjoyed it, and it remains in great hands with the Road District staff. I am confident the township will take appropriate action going forward.”

Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson said Del Mar was chosen to take over the post due to his extensive qualifications, which include a bachelor’s degree in public management, experience as a Palatine councilman, small business ownership, as well as his knowledge and commitment to the community.

The current highway commissioner term began in May 2013 and runs through May 2017.

Del Mar will be in charge of maintaining the right-of-way of many of the streets in all unincorporated areas.

Palatine Township includes all or part of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Barrington, and South Barrington.
