David Jeremiah Hopkins, age 49, a life-long resident of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away May 25, 2023. Beloved son of Nancy (nee Cobb) and the late G. Richard Hopkins. Loving brother of Richard R. and Matthew Hopkins. Soulmate of the departed Heather. Dear cat-dad to Miggles, Lily Mae, MooMoo and the late Willie. David was born September 25, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University where he was president of a fraternity. David was a major baseball enthusiast, being involved in the peanut league as a child all the way until his thirties. He was an all-star pitcher for several years. The Cubs were also important to David, he was a die-hard fan and rarely missed a game. He always enjoyed spending time with his pets, friends and family. He will be remembered as a kind and generous soul. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial in David’s name to the Kenneth Young Center, 1585 W. Dempster St., Suite 110, Mt.
