Mount Prospect’s two-day Downtown Block Party seemed to go over well with those who attended. The children enjoyed themselves at the inflatable slide, mini-carts, mini carousel and the mini Ferris wheel; their laughter could be heard throughout the event.

There were smiles, hugs and laughter as the people of Mount Prospect and surrounding neighborhoods bumped into familiar faces.

Though temperatures rose and the sun beat down on the crowd, no one seemed to mind. People gathered around the food and beverage tents, patiently waiting to “get their grub on” and to quench their thirst.

Block Party participants claimed their spot in front of the stage; both in the sun and in the shade to listen to the musical entertainment for the day. The bands played an array of songs which many people sang along with, danced to and even tapped their feet.

As things begin to return to normal after the two-day bash, the Journal attempted to reach Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Fletcher Collins for her input on the annual event. However, attempts to reach Fletcher Collins before deadline were unsuccessful.
