The man who allegedly struck a tree and 14 vehicles in Park Ridge on New Year’s Eve turned himself in to police on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Patrick Worley, 34, of 1867 Linden Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with damage to village property, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, and 14 counts of leaving the scene of an accident.

At about 9:41 a.m. Dec. 31, police were called to the area of Oakton Street and Northwest Highway for a report of multiple hit-and-run traffic crashes. Worley, driving a tow truck, had allegedly struck a tree near the intersection. A limb became lodged in his vehicle and he allegedly damaged 14 additional vehicles as he drove through the city.

Police received many tips and released pictures of the truck taken from a surveillance camera. During the investigation, officers learned Worley’s identity; he came to the police station to answer the charges.

Worley posted bond and faces a Feb. 13 court date.
