Fourth of July Events Set For Leyden Township Communities


Leyden Township communities are prepared to celebrate the nation’s independence next week with several events on deck.

Rosemont will celebrate Independence Day with its free “Rockin’ in the Park” concert series at Parkway Bank Park from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4. Lisa McClowry will perform her “Rock the ‘80s” set, and fireworks are to follow the concert. Parkway Bank Park is located at 5501 Park Place.

Nearby, Schiller Park is hosting a Fourth of July picnic free for Schiller Park residents. The picnic at Kennedy Park is set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m July 4. Anna Montana Water Park & Memorial Pool is open noon to 4 for the event. There will be inflatables, kids activities, as well as food and refreshments such as hot dogs and chips. Kennedy Park is located at 4001 N. Scott St., Schiller Park.

In Franklin Park, the Pool on Pacific is open noon to 6 p.m. July 4. A DJ is scheduled to play until 4 p.m., and the day will include games, raffles and prizes. Daily admission or pool pass is required. Pool on Pacific is located at 9715 Pacific Ave., Franklin Park.

Leyden Township is celebrating its 10th annual fireworks show in honor of Independence Day at West Leyden High School in Northlake July 6. Gates open at 6 p.m., live music by the PondHawks takes place between 7 and 8 p.m. and 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., the Jesse White Tumblers will perform from 8 to 8:30 p.m. and the national anthem, presentation of the colors and fireworks start at dusk. West Leyden is located at 1000 Wolf Road, Northlake.
