Local Firefighters To Assist In Hurricane Cleanup
Vehicles and personnel from the Arlington Heights Fire Dept. left early yesterday morning (Wednesday) to rendezvous with fire companies others from across Illinois to assist with clean up efforts along the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Gustav.

The Village of Wheeling approved a settlement agreement for payout on an Aon Aviation Gulfstream IV plane involved in a crash on Oct. 30, 1996.
Walker Takes Issue With Mayor's Letter
Mark Walker, Democratic state representative candidate in the 66th Dist., has charged that a campaign letter endorsing his Republican opponent, Christine Prochno, was written by Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson. He said the letter is "inappropriate and might be illegal."

Harper Seeks $153.6 Million For Upgrades
The Harper College Board of Trustees will place a "no tax rate increase" bond referendum seeking $153.6 million on the November ballot to repair older buildings and make other campus improvements over the next 10 years.

Parlor Gives Up License
