Police Gear Up For Super Bowl, Too

While the referees will be watching the Saints and Colts for player penalties this Sunday, the Buffalo Grove Police Dept. will be watching for Super Bowl revelers who have committed a "foul" by drinking and driving.

"Typically, the only other special event or holiday that has a higher number of alcohol-related traffic fatalities than Super Bowl Sunday is New Year's Day," said Sgt. Scott Kristiansen.

Police are encouraging everyone to have a game plan in place including a designated sober driver and alternative transportation.

Buffalo Grove's participation in the DUI campaign is funded by a grant from the Illinois Dept. of Transportation (IDOT). This special DUI mobilization runs from Jan. 29 through Feb. 14.
