Goslin Victorious In County Primary
By BOBBY CHILVER Journal & Topics Reporter
Cook County Board 14th Dist. Commissioner Gregg Goslin is halfway there to being re-elected, beating challenger Patrick O'Donoghue in Tuesday's Republican primary.
With 254 of 256 precincts counted, Goslin had received 15,367 unofficial votes, about 64%, to O'Donoghue's 8,709 (36%).
"It was what I expected," Goslin said. "My four years of having a good record and being attentive to my district paid off."
Goslin spent Tuesday night watching the polls at Elizabeth Coulson's campaign headquarters in Glenview. He'll now begin his own campaign for the November general election as he's set to face a challenge from Democrat Jennifer Bishop Jenkins, who ran unopposed in Tuesday's primary. Jenkins received 17,376 votes.
"I feel really good about my campaign and all my endorsements," Goslin said. "All that will carry over to the fall."
In this primary against O'Donoghue, Goslin received endorsements from Barrington, Palatine, Wheeling, Northfield and Niles Township Republican organizations.
A Glenview resident, Goslin was first elected to his post in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 and 2006. He was previously a member of the Illinois House of Representatives and supervisor of Northfield Township.
The 14th Dist. stretches across northern Cook County and serves portions of Arlington Hts., Buffalo Grove, Glenview, Northbrook, Palatine, Prospect Hts., Rolling Meadows and Wheeling in the Journal-area.
