Del Mar Holds Lead On Skoien

Aaron Del Mar, Palatine village councilman, can likely soon add another elected position to his name: Palatine Township Republican committeeman.

With 78 of 80 precincts reporting, Del Mar garnered 4,457 votes to incumbent Gary Skoien's 4,349.

"I feel like we've got this thing under control," Del Mar said Wednesday morning, although he stated he was still waiting for the last two precincts. He added that Skoien had not yet called him to concede.

Del Mar weathered a challenge to his nomination petitions, a challenge that was ultimately overruled. The race also featured the withdrawal of another candidate, Collin Corbett, who later threw his support behind Del Mar's run.

Palatine Township includes all or part of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Barrington, and South Barrington.
