FBI Won't Release Reason For Gupta Clinic Searches
The FBI searched five Chicago-area clinics run by weight-loss specialist Gautam Gupta Thursday, Jan. 21, including one clinic in Arlington Hts.
FBI Special Agent Ross Rice declined to say what evidence was being searched for. He said the matter was still under investigation.
Rice added that there have been no charges yet.
Gupta's Arlington Hts. Nutrition Clinic is located at 2355 S. Arlington Hts. Rd. Additional offices are located in Rockford, South Beloit, Chicago, and Naperville.
Gupta describes himself on his website as a weight-loss specialist who uses innovative FDA approve medications, along with a weight-loss program to help clients shed pounds.
Rice said the FBI typically does not make such investigations public, however, there was concern from citizens who saw the investigations taking place.
He said more information on the search is unlikely unless an arrest is made.
