Township Approves Tax Levy Increase

The Palatine Township board approved a property tax levy increase of 4.9%.

"I had proposed a 4.6%," explained Supervisor Linda Fleming. "After discussion, the board decided to raise it to 4.9."

The total amount levied is $1,954,100. That includes $1,590,547 for the town fund and 363,553 for general assistance. The levy represents the money the township requests from its taxpayers through Cook County property tax bills.

Levies are paid in the two property tax installments the following year.

Fleming provided the levy amounts to the Journal & Topics Newspapers on Dec. 11. She added that although the increase requested was 4.9%, due to the low Consumer Price Increase this year, it will likely be reduced.

Palatine Township includes all or part of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Barrington, and South Barrington.
