Indian Trails Library Opens New Lobby

After three months of construction, the Indian Trails Public Library has a newly remodeled lobby.

The renovation consists of a new rounded wall and desk, three new public computers, new carpeting and new wall panels, and a new location for the first floor "Ask Here" desk, which moves staff closer to those who have a question

"Our goal with the improvements was to draw the public into the library and make things easier for them to find," said Jennifer Koch, public relations manager for the Indian Trails Public Library District. "The new design is state-of-the-art and will simplify finding programs and the materials they need."

Four self-service checkout stations are now available with library staff on-hand to demonstrate and assist as needed.

"Our focus is to ensure our members move through the line and that we save them time," said Thomas Simiele, executive director of Indian Trails Public Library District. Simiele added that there will be staff support for the checkout stations to ensure that everyone gets the help they need when they need it.

The hospitality desk, located at the front of the library, is another addition that was made with the renovations.

"The addition of the hospitality desk is a great opportunity for staff to touch base with people on the way into the library and on the way out," said Robin Smith, associate director of public services.

The final renovation phase will include improvements to the second floor desk and shelving, which will happen in the coming months.
