Armed Robberies At Liquor Island By Same Man?
Two armed robberies at a Wheeling liquor store have police looking for one man.
"We think it may be the same offender," said Wheeling Deputy Police Chief Bill Benson.
The man robbed Liquor Island at 1750 W. Hintz Rd. the first time just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. He displayed a knife, went behind the counter, and took money from the register, Benson said.
The second robbery, following the same method with the same weapon, occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
In each case, police officers arrived within six minutes, but were unable to find the man who reportedly fled on foot with an unreleased amount of money.
"It was a similar description in both," Benson said. In each robbery, the suspect was described as a man standing between 5-feet, 7-inches and 5-feet, 10-inches tall weighing about 220 pounds. Surveillance videos from the business show him wearing a black baseball hat, a sweatshirt, a white T-shirt, and blue baggy pants.
