Kirchoff Rd. Banners To Support Cancer Awareness

The Rolling Meadows City Council on Tuesday, Dec. 1 unveiled a new banner to support cancer awareness.

The banners will be personalized with the name of a cancer survivor or victim and will hang along Kirchoff Road.

"We're the first city that's ever done that," said Ald. Barb Lusk (2nd).

Each banner should hang from April to November during 2010 and 2011, and then be returned to the person that purchased it.

Banners will be available for purchase on the city's Web site starting next week. Businesses interested in supporting the cause can also personalize the banners with a company name.

They are available in 19 colors corresponding to different types of cancer, Lusk said. If enough residents and businesses participate, they may also be hung on other main thoroughfares of Rolling Meadows.
