Close Call At Hotel Pool

Rolling Meadows paramedics responded to a call of a drowning child the evening of Nov. 14, but found the baby already responsive when they arrived.

The call came from Holiday Inn at 6:14 p.m. for a two-year-old boy in the hotel's swimming pool. Officials arrived at the pool within two minutes and found the boy, who had been reported as unresponsive, awake and breathing. A woman on the scene claimed to be a nurse and told paramedics she performed CPR on the boy. During later questioning, she recanted the story.

Paramedics took the boy to Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Hts. in good condition. They estimated he was under water for about 10 seconds.
