Palatine Resident To Run In 54th

Longtime Palatine resident Matt Flamm announced his candidacy for state representative in the 54th Legislative District as a Democrat.

Flamm recently filed nominating papers with the State Board of Elections. Flamm, 56, has lived in Palatine since 1987. He is a business and real

estate lawyer and is senior partner of Flamm, Teibloom & Stanko, Ltd.,

a Chicago law firm. He is a past chairman of the Real Estate Taxation

Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and has served on the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chicago Council of Lawyers.

Flamm graduated from Evanston Township High School, Northwestern University, and Georgetown University Law Center. He said education will be a key issue in his campaign.

"My daughters attended Palatine public schools and graduated from Palatine High School, and they received an education second to none," said Flamm. "We need to make sure our schools will have the resources to continue to provide that quality education.  Otherwise, we will lose what makes our

community a desirable place to live."

Flamm's wife, Betty, is president of the Palatine-Inverness Arts Council.

The 54th Dist. includes Palatine, Inverness, South Barrington, and parts of Hoffman Estates and Rolling Meadows. The district has been represented since 1998 by Rep. Suzanne Bassi, a Republican.

Bassi faces opposition in the Feb. 2 Republican primary from Tom Morrison. No other candidates have filed to run in the Democratic primary.
