Fire Rips Through Grove Drive Apartment

A Tuesday afternoon fire displaced residents from nine Buffalo Grove apartments.

The call came from the 700 block of Grove Drive at 12:51 p.m.

The fire started in the bedroom of a unit on the second floor of the building.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire involving the bedroom and hallway of the unit.

Additional crews from Arlington Hts., Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Palatine arrived to help make sure all residents were evacuated and check the other areas of the building.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage was estimated at approximately $225,000.

Residents received shelter from the Red Cross or other family members.
