Vets Day Ceremony Wednesday
Palatine American Legion Post 690 will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Community Park, located at the corner of Northwest Hwy. and Wood Street, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
According to Fred Hall, Veterans Day committee chairman, the program will kick-off with greetings from representatives of Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, as well as the American Legion itself.
The American Legion is comprised of individuals who served overseas; Sons of the American Legion are offspring of veterans and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary are made up mostly of wives of veterans.
The program will also feature a short keynote address by Cmdr. Paul Bandurski followed by the Legion Color Guard presenting colors and performing a rifle salute.
Hall said the event will occur rain or shine so people should dress accordingly.
"We will have people representing every conflict from World War II and forward either on stage or in the audience," said Hall.
The event has been at the Memorial since it was dedicated on Veterans Day in 1991.
