No Word On What Caused Overnight Garage Fire
The Buffalo Grove Fire Dept. is still investigating a Sunday fire that damaged a house and garage in the 900 block of Shambliss Lane.
Firefighters were called to the home at 12:44 a.m. on June 28 and found a two-car garage with two cars inside on fire. The family and pet had already left the home and officials went to two attached town homes and had other residents evacuate their residences as well.
Crews attacked the fire in the garage but it had already spread to the bedrooms on the second floor and the attic. They brought the blaze under control in about 45 minutes.
The garage received severe fire damage and there was fire and smoke damage to the first and second floor of the home that inspectors judged uninhabitable. Damage was estimated at $200,000.
Two firefighters received minor injuries during the operation; they were treated and released at the scene.
Crews from Prospect Hts., Arlington Hts., Palatine, Long Grove, Lake Zurich, Deerfield, Mundelein, Lincolnshire, and Barrington assisted in the effort. Other firefighters from Palatine Rural, Rolling Meadows, Libertyville, and Wauconda fire departments covered the rest of Buffalo Grove during the operation.
