Items Taken From Unlocked Cars

* Four cars were burglarized in Arlington Hts. between 1:30 and 7:30 a.m. on June 24.

All the vehicles were left unlocked, police said. They were parked in an area bounded by Elm Street, Belmont Avenue, Hawthorne Street and Dunton Avenue. Items taken included a radio faceplate, a laptop computer, a Cubs t-shirt, a pair of prescription glasses and a global positioning system.

* Two incidents of vehicle burglaries were recently reported to Arlington Hts. police.

On Thursday, June 18 at about 10:30 p.m., a witness interrupted two men as they were looking through two cars for items to steal. The cars had been left unlocked in a driveway near John Hersey High School. Police did not report any items taken from the vehicles.

At 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, four men were interrupted as they were going through unlocked parked cars. The incident occurred in a condominium parking lot at Hintz Road and Windsor Drive. The suspects took a global positioning system and a digital camera from the vehicles before escaping.

* Someone damaged a car in the 300 block of South Dunton Avenue in Arlington Hts. Before 7 a.m. June 16, they threw a garbage can and a flowerpot at the vehicle, denting and scratching it.
