Village To Double Check Creek After Complaints

Arlington Hts. residents living on Weston Drive near Lake Cook and Arlington Hts. roads are concerned about a rising Buffalo Creek and erosion behind their homes. They are calling on village officials to do something about it.

Director of Public Works Scott Shirley said there is no money in this year's budget for any kind of creek project. Crews cleaned and cleared the creek in April and May to help with water flow and hope to meet with park district officials this week to discuss options.

"We need to see if we have a problem and how bad it is," said Shirley. He said water is not currently encroaching on any private land. The Arlington Hts. Park District owns land on either side of the creek. Shirley said that though the village works closely with the park district, maintenance the waterway goes with ownership of the land.

Parks officials were not immediately available for comment.
