July 4th Rally To Protest Excessive Spending

By RICHARD MAYER Assistant Managing Editor

This July 4th, a Taxed Enough Already (TEA) rally will take place between 12:30-2:30 p.m. near the Clock Tower at Hicks Rd. and Northwest Hwy. in Palatine, with hundreds of people expected to attend.

According to 11-year Palatine resident Craig Mijares, who is hosting the event, his TEA party is part of a national movement to protest the spending of trillions of dollars.

Mijares said there will be between 4-5 speakers representing different components of society, signs, flags and much more.

"Our main purpose is to relay our message that our government is out of control and we need to control spending," said Mijares. "We need to stop our spending, lower taxes and have a smaller government."

Mijares emphasized this event will be non-violent and just wants to inform people of what is going on in state and federal government.

Mijares said he attended a similar event recently in Cary where 150 people attended.
