City OKs Tax Break To Lure Headquarters

A manufacturer and distributor of medical and aerospace machines plans to move its North American headquarters to Rolling Meadows by November of 2009.

GF AgieCharmilles, a globally active company and part of the Swiss Georg Fischer Group, currently employs 3,319 people. Agie Chamilles LLC, a subsidiary company, has 170 employees at two facilities in Lincolnshire. It also has a warehouse in Woodridge.

The company plans to consolidate the Lincolnshire facilities into one site at 5655 Meadowbrook Drive in Rolling Meadows, currently the site of Mori Seiki. That company plans to vacate the site in June or July.

Rolling Meadows City Council agreed to a 6B tax classification as an incentive for the company. That status allows a property tax assessment reduction from 36% to 16% for a 12-year period.

The company intends to hire qualified Rolling Meadows residents to fill new positions.
