Prepare To Pony Up For Fireworks
Unlike past years, if residents want to see the fireworks at Arlington Park on Friday, July 3 they are going to have to pay.
Admission will be minimal and the park has increased its entertainment offerings attempting to package the event as one day of racing, music and fireworks and is offering the same reduced price for admission all day.
Tickets will cost $3 in advance or $5 at the gate. The box office will close at 7:30 p.m. Ticket holders will be allowed to enter the park with tickets if they arrive after 7:30 but tickets will not be available for sale after 7:30.
Racing is set to start later in the day at 4 p.m. this year and run later into the evening.
Two bands, B.O.T.T. (Blood on the Tracks, a Bob Dylan cover band) and the Four Man Band will entertain the crowd on two stages with live classic rock both between and after the races and before the fireworks. Village officials said they Arlington Park festivities are not affiliated with the village's Independence Day event, Frontier Days.
