'Beach Bum Bandit' Suspect In Bank Robbery

Suspect called the "Beach Bum Bandit" caught on video survelliance.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes the so-called "Beach Bum Bandit" is responsible for a recent bank robbery in Rolling Meadows.

When the suspect entered MB Financial Bank, 2251 Plum Grove Rd., at 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, he was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a grey hooded sweatshirt, khaki cargo-style short pants, gym shoes, a bandana, and gloves. He displayed a black semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the tellers before taking an undisclosed amount of money and escaping on a bicycle, police said.

The same man is suspected in robberies at a Mutual Bank branch on Nerge Road in Roselle, on May 8 and May 22. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

The "Beach Bum Bandit" is described as a white male between 20 and 25 years of age, six feet tall, weighing between 170 and 190 pounds with a thin build and brown hair. He has worn a bandana or scarf around his face during two of the robberies along with shorts and various types and colors of hats. He was been given the moniker "Beach Bum Bandit" due to the casual dress and beach type attire that he has worn during all three of his robberies. He also carries a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Chicago FBI and investigators from the Roselle and Rolling Meadows police departments are investigating this case jointly.

Anyone recognizing the individual or having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
