Palatine Concert Band Kicks-Off 'Sounds of Summer'

The Palatine Park District's "Sounds of Summer" concert series returns next Wednesday, June 17 with a performance of the Palatine Concert Band.

Free entertainment takes place throughout the summer at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 262 E. Palatine Rd., beginning at 8 p.m. In case of inclement weather, performances will be canceled. Here's what's on tap:

Wednesday, June 17

Palatine Concert Band

Palatine's own 90 member ensemble will present an evening of light summer fare with a variety of selections ranging from classical to popular.

Friday, June 19

American English

Relive the days of the Beatles! Using identical instruments the legendary group used, this Palatine favorite has an uncanny ability to reproduce the vocal style and harmonies of the Beatles.

Wednesday, June 24

Palatine Children's Chorus

The Palatine Park District's own Children's Concert Choir, under the artistic direction of Sue Falbo, will present their 14th concert on the Amphitheater stage. These talented young singers have been invited to perform in Mexico City this summer.

Skip Towne & The Greyhounds

Chicago's own "Skip Towne & The Greyhounds" will present rock and roll, classic standards, sentimental ballads, heartfelt boogie and blues, swinging jazz, and novelty tunes.

The New Invaders Ultimate 60s Flashback

The "Ultimate 60's Flashback" performance features go-go girls and special guest Melody Mallin covering tunes from such greats as Dusty Springfield, Grace Slick, Leslie Gore, and more.

"Fourth Thursday" concerts are also held at Towne Square on the 4th Thursday night of the month through the summer. Upcoming performance dates are June 25 and July 23.
